The short supply chain is an excellent way to enhance local products, their quality and to enhance the territory; they know this well in Montevarchi (Ar), where for centuries farmers, breeders and matchmakers from the countryside of Valdarno, from Pratomagno and also from the hills of Chianti have met to exchange their products.
This tradition has been preserved and handed down to the present day with the creation of a permanent indoor place where producers can sell their products directly to the final buyer without any intermediation, so in 2008 was born the Mercatale.
Here you can find the various typical products of Valdarno, many of which come from organic farming such as seasonal fruit, zolfini beans, various vegetables, but also local meats and cheeses, as well as bread, wine, jams, honey ...
The Mercatale is located in Montevarchi in Piazza dell'Antica Gora and is open from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and in the afternoon from 4.00 pm to 8.30 pm.
The short supply chain was well known by our ancestors who did not live in comfort and who perhaps found themselves forced to barter a capon for a pair of new shoes, but even today can be a great tool to rediscover old flavors of the past that the various supermarkets have made us forget as well as a good springboard to enhance the local economy.
